Soft Luxe Guest Bedroom Reveal

When I began designing this guest bedroom, my goal was simple: create a space that felt calm, elevated, and welcoming without relying on expensive furnishings or a major renovation.

The inspiration came from Fixer Upper The Castle primary bedroom.  I was drawn to the layered textures, soft color palette, and boutique hotel atmosphere. While I loved the architectural details in the inspiration space, I focused on recreating the feeling rather than copying every design element.

Building the Color Palette

One of the first pieces selected for the room was the artwork. It became the foundation for the entire design.

From the artwork, I pulled shades of light gray, ivory, blue-gray, brown, gold, and charcoal. To create balance and depth throughout the room, I layered in foundational finishes such as black, silver, and gold.

Establishing the palette early made every design decision easier and ensured the room felt cohesive from corner to corner. To engage all the senses, I also incorporated a signature scent through Trudon Abd El Kader, adding another layer to the overall guest experience.

Design Starts with Direction, Not Shopping

Every room needs a focal point, but every successful design also needs a plan.

The project began with a style board, and I'm still amazed by how closely the finished room reflects that original vision.

To keep the design approachable and budget-conscious, I intentionally worked with pieces I already owned, including the bed, chandelier, console table, accent chair, and artwork. This is advice I often share with clients: before replacing everything, look at what can be repurposed or reimagined.

Using existing furniture not only helps stretch a budget, but often gives new life to pieces that have become easy to overlook.

The new additions included the nightstands, table lamps, floor lamp, and what I consider the true design hero of the room: the drapery from Two Pages Curtains. The drapery added the softness, height, and understated luxury the room had been missing and served as the finishing layer that brought the entire design together.

before and after

Take A Seat!

It's the perfect place to enjoy a morning coffee, read a book, or simply sit while putting on shoes. More importantly, it gives guests a space beyond the bed, making the room feel more like a retreat and less like a place to simply sleep.

final thoughts

My hope is that this room serves as a reminder that luxury isn't always about buying more. Sometimes it's about seeing the potential in what you already have and designing with intention.

Enjoy!
